I have to admit, I’m a bit torn on the issue of Rockbox. I’ve only ever installed it on my 32GB CF iPod mini, and since I had the issue “building the database”, I figured it would be best to leave it out of the RSF line.
However. On second though, I think it will be a smart decision to put Rockbox on any retroMods that customers ask me to, and let them hack away with Rockbox. Let’s face it, if you have FLAC files laying around, you’re not going to want to have to convert them into ALAC just to listen to them on your retroMod. So I’ve decided two things:
- I’m going to allow the Rockbox option on retroMods.
- I will not be offering support for Rockbox issues.
So basically, if you want Rockbox on your retroMod, you’re on your own once you get it! I spent a good while trying to figure out how to initialize a database, and since I couldn’t even figure out that simple task, I’m leaving it to you to figure out the rest.
If you purchase a retroMod iPod with Rockbox pre-installed – and you have issues with the Rockbox OS – you’ll need to go to the Rockbox forums (or similar) to sort out your issues. Perhaps some day I’ll become more familiar with Rockbox, but at this point I’m an iPod OS fan.
Thanks for being here, and keep rocking to the highest sonic fidelity!
